Doomsdays

Enjoyed this. Wanted to break into houses with all these characters! Doesn't get too bogged down with emotional arcs or anything kept it simple.

A pleasant surprise. Strong overtones of Jarmusch, early Hartley, and maybe a little bit of early Wes Anderson. It feels on the verge of lapsing into overly cute whimsy, but fortunately it's sense of humor is too odd and inscrutable to be "quirky". Fitzpatrick and Rice are always a pleasure to watch. Rice's presence, along with the highbrow/lowbrow humor also tempt comparisons to Bob Byington, although Mullins is a more confident visual stylist. Minor, but fun while it lasts.

One of those movies that starts out strong then gradually starts to peter off after halfway through. Still great though.
