As a cruel joke, billionaire William Randolph Hughes planted a series of boxes around the Southwest, in the hopes that someone would find them. The first box told the discoverer that an enormous fortune was buried in a box somewhere, along with directions to the hiding place. When the box is uncovered, however, all it contains is instructions on how to find the next box, and so on.
