Geography Club (based on the award-winning novel by Brent Hartinger) is a comedy about teenagers who are discovering their sexual identities. The high school students create a "Geography Club" which is actually a cover for an LGBT support group. The film explores the teen's hopes, values and dreams while on this journey of going public and offering the whole school support. (geographyclub.com)

According to the imdb page, the novel it's based on is "best-selling" and "critically acclaimed". How?? WTF?? it has to be one of those things for "young adults" where they have to hang a neon sign over every lesson to be sure it gets noticed. The "protagonist" is a seemingly smart kid with apparently no moral backbone who lets stupid people tell him what to do...and he, inexplicably, does it. The cast is actually pretty good, but the plot is far too infuriating to be enjoyable.

Sort of like “Another Gay Movie” if it was it’s own thing instead of an American Pie rip-off, and a bit less raunchy. It feels like it would’ve fared better if released in the early 2000’s, but it’s still a fun high school comedy. Kinda reminiscent of the later released Love, Simon in a way.
