Kippur

While I appreciated many of Gitai's stylistic choices within each scene, the end result of this film is to engender apathy more than empathy. The single-minded focus on the medics is fine, but the way GItai puts those scenes together, essentially stringing together rescue after rescue without context makes for an experience that numbs rather than invites engagement. That said, the scene where the soldiers attempt a rescue in the mud is an especially effective moment in film that lacks them.
