Men Go to Battle

Well conceived, edited, and shot, the film takes us along a year in the life of two brothers, a year that leads each toward some greater sense of maturity and self. The film has rightly been praised for its Civil War ethos, but I found it more interesting for the fact that the two leads could easily be transplanted into a modern film and seem right at home--almost as if Treitz is looking at the "manchild" phenomenon through the lens of history and finding it there as well.
