The Book of Love

Soapy and sudsy 'inspirational' drama is as subtle as a sledgehammer in its approach - it gets off on the wrong foot immediately via Biel's grating, irritating performance as the 'charmingly bohemian' wife of befuddled Sudeikis; Williams could possibly have been more affecting if she wasn't saddled with an accent outside of her range (not to mention a character who is more of a clichéd construct). A movie that reduces Steenburgen to a loud-mouthed harpy isn't doing itself any favours either.

I didn't think it was too bad. I liked the character of Biel and thought there should have been more of her in there. The character of Williams was too much, but somehow in the end it worked. I thought it was enjoyable to watch. 50/100.
