Much as I love Orson Welles, this is almost impossible to sit through. The incessant narration by this Cousins guy--really, he NEVER shuts up--makes me long for a ball gag (and something tells me Cousins wouldn't mind it all that much). It's in the form of a (VERY) long "love letter" to Welles...a particularly smarmy, insipid one, the kind of narration that constantly poses questions meant to be "deep". If only he could have found it in himself to let the marvelous images speak for themselves.

Part biography and part Cousins' love letter to Welles. A very personal film, in a good way; Cousins 'gets' not only Welles the film maker, but Welles the artist (in film and other mediums) and Welles the man (including the insecure beast within).
