The Mark

This was very bold even for 1961 UK. Nowadays, of course, it would never fly. Now, you may not buy the reformed paedophile as hero (especially since Whitman is so wrong for the part, unlike the excellent Schell and Steiger). But this film will certainly challenge you to, and make a seriously compelling case. The style of writing is extroverted and devoid of subtext, but intelligent and insightful.
