Can't recall this movies name, but I vividly remember this kid running (away from home?) and this was at night... running over train tracks.... he was running down a hill/cliff and slipped... he may have passed out? (not sure), but he quickly awakens and runs back home. When he gets home he realizes he's traveled 10 years? into the future (i.e. he didn't age). His family is 10-years? older and explained that he went missing.
I could have sworn the main/kid actor was Fred Savage, but I couldn't find any movie he's been in which looked familiar.
This movie would have been released in the 80's, maybe even early 90's.

I don't think that's it...
I'm not exactly sure what he did after the time-travel realization(which happened near the beginning of the movie), but i recall he had a brother (who was younger, yet now older), and he played a large role in the movie... I don't really recall aliens.
I want to say he spent the rest of the movie (with said younger/older brother) trying to figure out how to "reverse" what happened... and they likely eventually did.

Here is an extended synopsis:
David Freeman (Joey Cramer) is an average 12-year-old American boy living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1978. On the night of July 4, his mother Helen (Veronica Cartwright), asks him to retrieve his younger brother, Jeff (Albie Whitaker), from a friend's house on the other side of the woods. While in the woods, he falls down an embankment into a ravine and is knocked unconscious. He awakes after what seems like a few moments, and walks home only to find that everything around him has changed because it is suddenly 1986. The police take him to a house where he is reunited with his family, now aged by eight years. The shock of it all causes him to pass out.

This does sounds exactly like it... I'll check it out.
Thanks Hellbo!
