Evidently I didn't anticipate how my post would read. While I appreciate my admonishing at the hands of Bojangles (it pleases me that I've now written that in my life time. That's a memorable sentence) and my support from Shogun, it wasn't my intent to place the blame of what I maintain is a silly moment with Oprah. She didn't write the line and I don't recall her delivery at all. A writer needing a spark to set off on adapting a story they're capable of holding in their hands seems overly dramatic. But, I've never adapted a story, so in the name of good will here are three specific examples where I negated a "spark."
1. Karen McChullah and Kirsten Smith for 10 Things I Hate About You.
Spark: What if The Taming of the Shrew took place in a modern high school?
2. John and Joyce Carrington for The Onega Man
Spark: What if I Am Legend was set in a big city?
3. Akiva Goldsman and Mark Protosevich for I Am Legend
Spark: What if I Am Legend was terrible?

Re: Oscars
I wasn't admonishing you. I'm honestly just impressed and amused at the level of snarkiness it would take to make such a specific jab at Oprah during that moment. "What spark of inspiration? It's an ADAPTATION, just type up the good parts of the book you dumb bitch.." That's next level stuff. You and I would get along fine.

Ohhhhhhhhh man, what a cheesy exit!! Ignore<>strawman....ignore<>strawman. Given the alternative, good choice. What's a guy in dire need of compensation to do? I know how obnoxious I must seem what with there being nowhere to run and nowhere to hide other than the sparse comfort of the ignore list. Mebbe 7 years in Tibet would help, come out smellin' like Tyler Durden in the upper room.
Thanks.

Stewie, show Spunkie some respect. He's a thoughtful, creative individual with worthwhile insight into various forms of art, including books and movies. It doesn't mean you have to agree with him, but it does mean his views merit consideration. You could learn an awful lot from Spunkie. Behaving so childishly is uncalled for.
He seems more intelligent than the average Youtube creator addressing these issues, and occasionally touches upon a smattering of genuine insight, but overall, I was unimpressed. Whether because of his political views or a desire not to alienate his fanbase (I would put my money on the latter, which is a huge problem for most large Youtube channels), he frequently dances around the issue without saying anything concrete and substantive.
He didn't say anything I consider flagrantly wrong, but he also didn't say anything I considered particularly correct or more importantly, interesting.
