A satire of both American westerns and the "spaghetti westerns" they inspired, West and Soda focuses on Johnny, a typically brave and handsome denizen of the wild west, with an atypical bent toward pacifism. Johnny ambles into a placid western town and finds himself attracted to the pure and lovely Clementina. This was one of the first animations done by the great Bruno Bozzetto. Even when there is some clear influence from the UPA shorts (Particularly in what concerns to the visual aspect and the comedy style) the result is still something fascinating, being funny, clever, and even cute at moments.
