Listkowski, owner of the cream parlour in a small coastal town, at the end of the season pay his staff a large sum, which will allow her dream to establish a boutique. The rest goes to pay for a bank. Because is late cashier doesn't accept payment. On the night Listkowski is murdered.

The main character is Bogna, a thirty year old woman lost in her surrounding reality and unhappy in her private life. After her husband departs for a foreign scholarship, Bogna learns that her mother died.
