On a fateful night aboard the Souparnika Express, ace-shooter Nadiya Methar (Kavya Madhavan) is gruesomely murdered along with renowned danseuse Thulasi Mani (Suja Karthika) and sprightly journalist Shreya Maria (Poornima). Mohan Kumar (Suresh Gopi) is a young political firebrand whose power and influence is on the rise. Since the couple was not known to have had any marital discord, the police are entrusted with the task of unraveling the circumstances of her death. 'Paradesi' is the story of Valiyakaththu Moosa (Mohanlal), an Indian Muslim who moves from the Malabar region of Kerala, India to Karachi, Pakistan during the British Raj in search of a job. He, along with his sidekick & clerk Urumees (Jagathi Sreekumar) moves to the palace, but faces trouble with Udaya Varma's relatives.
Justice Usha Varma (Sharada) is set to pronounce her verdict on Jagmohan Pandey, a member of the Kashmir based terror group, Himani Tiger Force (HTF), for killing a dignitary. To free Jagmohan, Qureshi, HTF's current leader threatens Usha Varma & to prove that he means business, kills her son Unni. Under orders from Usha Varma's brother Rajan (Lalu Alex), who is also the Home Secretary, the responsiblity of Usha Varma's security is given to Captain Shyam Mohan (Suresh Gopi), an NSG commando.

Balachandran Adika (Prithviraj) leaves his cousin-girl friend Sumithra (Kavya Madhavan) to marry Surabhi (Samvrutha) under pressure from his family, to save them from debt. He gets a job in Trivandrum secretariat, after which he is drawn into its corrupt world, after advice from Unnithaan (Jagathi). He gets selected to the personal staff of the Revenue minister, after a recommendation by coworker Vimala Thankachi (Sindu Menon), after which he grows in politics, crushing everyone in his path.
Father Gabriel Panachikkadan (Rajan P. Dev) brings up orphan Daisy (Indraja) & Prince Lawrence (Hari Nair), whose parents are in the US. They get attracted to each other after Prince choreographs a winning folk dance number for Daisy. Furious at the prospect of his son marrying an orphan, Lawrence (Ramachandran V.) comes down from US, opposes their relationship & blames Fr. Gabriel for letting it happen. In between this, Daisy goes missing & CI Samuel Isaac (Vijayaraghavan) starts investigating.
At Manikyasseri Kovilakam, pregnant maid Ganga (Mayuri) gets burned alive by the patriarch after his son Devan (Madhupal) falls in love with her, but Ganga's spirit returns & kills him. The great sorcerer Meppaadan (Rajan P. Dev) exorcises the spirit & traps it in a tree. Years later, a college girl Daisy (Divya Unni), unleashes the spirit by mistake, which possesses her & seeks revenge at the males of Manikyasseri. Daisy befriends Unni (Riyaz) of Manikyasseri & makes him fall in love with her.
Raghuraman (Mohanlal), who loses his family in a politically instigated Hindu-Muslim riot, takes refuge in an ashram, consumed with the idea of vengeance. On the verge of taking revenge, he is shown the error of his ways by a disciple of the ashram, in the form of a vision Raghuraman has. In his vision, he is in a land occupied by blind people. Raghuraman tries to give them the gift of eyesight, but suffers in the process. When he awakens, Raghuraman realizes how the vision related to reality.
Aravindan (Kalabhavan Mani), a bourgeoisie ration shop owner, borrows jewelery to marry his sister off, with the hope that the jewelery he would get as dowry via his own marriage can be used to repay the debt. However, his plans are foiled when his wife Saraswathi's (Sujitha) jewelry turn out to be fake. With no other go, he borrows money from multiple usurers. All plans to repay the debts fail & faced with threats from his creditors, Aravindan decides to sell one of his kidneys, to raise money.
Thacholi Varghese (Mohanlal), a Kalarippayattu expert, does not believe in using his skills for violent means, restraining himself even from seeking revenge against Mathiloor Rajan Panicker, the person responsible for his father's death. However, Varghese is dragged into a conflict when he is forced to defend his disciple Shyam (Vineeth) against a false murder accusation. In the process, he is pitted against Rajan Panicker in a sword fight duel, the outcome of which will decide Shyam's fate.
Kochu Thresia (Sheela), a rich elderly widow with a lust for life, but alienated by her children caught in the rat race for making money, gets a companion in Reji (Jayaram), a poor but earthy young man with his own share of burdens including coping up with his drunkard father Chacko (Innocent) & his immature ways. Kochu Thresia's & Reji's unique relationship doesn't bode well with Kochu Thresia's children & their spouses who tries to break them up.
A pompous millionaire, Shankar Das (Mammootty), comes to a village in Kuttanad & throws around money, including financing a film at the Chathoth family house, directed by native struggling director Sarath (Biju Menon). Das, however, had the ulterior motive of marrying his childhood sweetheart, Anuradha Panicker (Bhanupriya), of the Chathoth family. When Das learns that Sarath & Anuradha were in love, he tries to get her by trapping her family into a heavy debt & asking for her hand in return.
Balabhaskaran (Jayaram), a somnambulist, wastrel & flirter, is finally forced by his parents to marry Chandrika (Annie), to correct his wayward ways. After the marriage, things were going smooth for him, with Chandrika being sportive about his friendship with other women, till Balabhaskaran sleepwalks & gets into an accident. Thinking he was about to die, Balabhaskaran confesses to Chandrika. He ends up surviving, but his confession alienates Chandrika & their life turns into a living hell.
The two prominent families in town, that of Pareil Pappu's (Janardanan) & that of Mampalli Chackappan's (V.K. Sriraman), were always at loggerheads, with most conversations resulting in fisticuffs. Pappu's dreaded nephew Antony (Suresh Gopi) poses a constant headache for Chackappan, but Chackappan's daughter Nimmy (Divya Unni) & Antony fall in love. Chackappan & Pappu forget their differences & unite, but soon after, Pappu is shot dead by a mysterious sniper & Antony sets out to find the killer.
Eight friends & petty thieves, known as "Seven & a half bunch" because of crippled Ara (Dileep), who was just considered the "half" amongst them, gets assigned a task by local bigwig Vakkachan (Rajan P. Dev) - to trap his half-brother & business rival Andrews Nicholas's (Narendra Prasad) daughter Maria (Lekha) in a fake love relationship, to get back at Andrews. The task gets assigned to Balu (Madhupal) from the group, but things get complicated when Balu & Maria really fall in love.
Mahadevan Thampi (Sreenivasan), owner of the Sankaramangalam Hospital, gets cheated by his uncle Madhavan Thampi (Rajan P. Dev) into transferring the ownership of the hospital to Madhavan's London-educated daughter Nandini (Annie), by enticing Mahadevan with the false promise of giving Nandini's hand in marriage to him. However, Madhavan had his own slimy plans of getting Nandini married to Rajagopal (Mukesh), the new doctor in the hospital, but who in reality was a quack out to make some cash.
After her neighbors' teenage daughter Cicily (Charutha) gets raped & killed & constantly worried about her own daughter Ammu (Pooja) who was away in Bangalore, Janaki (Shweta Vijay), a maid at the house of artist Nathan (Suresh Gopi) & wife Revathy (Shweta Menon) gets overly protective about Nathan's & Revathy's daughter Malu (Manasa), after Malu comes of age.
Vishnu (Vineeth Kumar) comes to join Padmanabha Menon's (Nedumudi Venu) textile mill as a textile designer & falls in love with bubbly village belle Kanmashi (Nithya Das). However, things get complicated when Menon mistakes Vishnu to be his grandson from his long-lost son Unni (Madhupal), & arranges Vishnu's marriage to his granddaughter Varsha.
Gauri (Vidya), a +2 student is raised by her struggling laundress single mother Madhavi (Kalaranjini), with the hopes of making Gauri a doctor one day. However, circumstances cause Gauri to have an brief fling with a much married man, Chandran (Biju Menon), after which Gauri gets besotted with him & ends up ruining both their & their families' lives beyond repair.
In the power struggle between the left-wing communist party led by Sivankutty (Manoj K. Jayan) & the coalition of right-wing parties led by P. Divakaran (Rizabawa), M.P. Rajappan (Narendra Prasad) & Marakkar Haji (Narayanan Nair), in the northern Kerala state of Kannur, Sivankutty loses his father & later, his brother Unnikrishnan (Sudheesh) in plots engineered by Divakaran & his coterie. In revenge, Sivankutty seeks their contract killer, Panniyannoor Dasan (Raghu).
60 years after a lass of the Aalathoor Thekkemadam manor, Kuttimani (Kumari Joemol), was putatively killed by her jealous lover Krishnanunni (Kunchako Boban), & after which he was hanged, the current patriarch, Valiyathan (Thilakan), looks to restart a defunct religious rite. However, things get edgy after it started to seem like the old lovers have reincarnated as Gayathri (Kumari Joemol), a young girl of the current generation & Manu (Kunchako Boban), the caretaker's son, & they fall in love.
Gouri (Kavya Madhavan) & Shankaran (Munna) were friends & lovers from childhood. Shankaran's orthodox Brahmin family, who were snake worshipers, had a custom where the eldest daughter-in-law would practice celibacy & become the "snake mother", a deity. Despite knowing that she would be next in line after Shankaran's mother's demise, Gouri marries Shankaran, but their joy is short-lived when shortly afterwards, Shankaran's mother, the current "snake mother", dies, forcing Gouri to fill the shoes.
'Human Tiger Force', a terrorist group, takes refuge in the Bison Valley forest of Idukki, Kerala, to launch attacks against Indian targets. Heading the group was Nitin Josh (Madhupal), a Malayalee, who also had his wife Chandini (Anusha) & young son Shinaz living in the nearby village as civilians. Sebastian (Siddique), a cop on duty to catch the terrorists is killed by them, along with his family, causing for Shyam Mohan (Suresh Gopi), a central intelligence officer, to take up the cause.
Seetha (Kaveri), a young servant girl is found raped & murdered in a pond, & Unni Thampuran (Manian Pillai Raju), the girl's employer, is arrested & charged. Ace lawyer Kuruvila Aniyan Kuruvila (Mammootty) appears for the accused, but Unni is declared guilty & given a life sentence after the prosecution comes up with a fake witness. Although dejected, Kuruvila tries to reopen the case after finding that the case officer SP Sugunapalan (Rajan P. Dev) had helped the real culprits by framing Unni.
Middle-aged couple Ranjith (Siddique) & Anitha (Shwetha Menon) goes through some tensions after Anitha gets pregnant at 40 & decides to keep the baby against Ranjith's wishes. Their teenage son, Pranav (Ashwin), grapples with his own demons after he locks a female friend, Pratibha, inside his steel cupboard & loses the key. Stressed out, Pranav breaks down & is whisked away by his parents to their home village, but Pranav spends every minute in fear that Pratibha was probably dead by then.
Dada Mohammed Sahib (Mammootty) is an old freedom fighter & his son Abubacker (Mammootty) is a former soldier. Abubacker, when he finds arms racketeering taking place in his home town involving people in the high echelons of power, including Jail IG Skaria Sacharia (Rajan P. Dev) & MLA Mohammedkutty (Saikumar), catches them in the act, but they frame Abubacker for terrorism & gets him sentenced to death. However, he manages to survive an attempt to hang him & escapes to expose the real traitors.
Sam Alex (Prithviraj), who used to be a top cop in the force, shirks work & spends his days in drunken stupor after his wife Teena (Meghana Raj) & daughter are killed by a terrorist & he is unable to stop it. Sam is finally brought out of his exile by his boss Aravindaksha Menon (Vijayaraghavan) & forced to look into a case of serial killings with religious overtones.
Regretful over the fact that he couldn't become a doctor himself, Asokan Chirakkara (Jagadish) pushes his son Adarsh (Sujith) to become a doctor. However, on the day of the the medical entrance exam, Adarsh buckles under pressure & gets a panic attack, shattering Asokan's dreams. Over the next few days, Asokan realizes that he had never before bothered to acknowledge his son's own dreams of becoming a painter & was imposing his own wishes on his son.
Bangalore-based professionals & friends Balu (Fahadh Faasil) & Isha (Radhika Apte) fall in love with each other, get married & move to Kochi, but a fight between them causes Isha to fall out of love & they head for divorce with Balu continuing to question why. In between this, Balu happens to save a girl, Ameena (Rajshri Deshpande), from a murder attempt & befriends the ebullient radio jockey & activist Gargi (Sagarika Bhatia).
Christy (Sunny Wayne), an ambulance driver, is hired to transport a corpse by the relatives of the deceased, to a remote location. However, halfway through the trip, Christy realizes that the relatives in the vehicle were hired goons tasked with destroying the corpse. Intrigued, Christy shakes them off & tries to unravel the reasons behind the death of the person, whom he recognizes to be a kind stranger whom he had briefly met just earlier that day.
Aaron (Jayasurya), a budding cricketer who loses his eyesight as a kid in an accident, tries to realize his dream of forming an Indian cricket team for the blind, with the help of former washed-up coach Gopi Krishnan (Lal).
Shanthanu Varma (Prithviraj), who was a navy officer pines over a girl, Nadira Imam (Priyal Gor), whom he loved 15 years ago & for whom had to leave the navy. Since Nadira was underage at that time, both of them agree to wait to show their love is true, to Nadira's Nawabi father Jaffar Imam (Kabir Bedi), who was also Shanthanu's Commanding Officer in the navy. Shanthanu then loses touch with Nadira for 2 years, & his search for her leads him to Kavaratti, Lakshadweep.
