Five former Earth slaves make a brazen escape from the evil Galran Empire to the peaceful planet of Altea. There they are asked to pilot the legendary Golion robot, and defend Altea from the vile Galran Emperor Daibazaal and his vast forces.

The film begins with the Gokai Galleon being chased by the Super Dimensional Highspeed Ship Dolgiran before crashing into the bay.
