Vineeth

A mother and son (Kaviyoor Ponnamma and Biju Menon) comes to Haridwar to perform the last rites of her elder son, Bharath Pisharody (Mohanlal), who had run away from home and is believed to have died. But they find him on the banks of River Ganga and takes him back to the family. Now Pisharody is a different man and his family believes that he is on drugs. But his brother discovers papers about his mental illness from his suitcase. Now everyone starts seeing him in a different way.

'Lal Salaam' chronicles the personal and professional life of two life long friends and communist party workers Nettur Stephen (Mohanlal) and DK (Murali).

Chandhru (Mammootty), a trucker, is a man with a rough exterior, but good at heart. When his helper Ravi (Mukesh) dies in an accident, he takes it upon himself to fulfill Ravi's dream of building a house for his family & goes to Ravi's village with this mission. There, during his stay, he meets the various interesting characters of the village - Rajamma (Seema) who runs a tea-shop, Kochu Varki (Prathapachandran), the wealthy, but evil land-lord, his son Sunny (Vijayaraghavan) etc.

After his son dies in a hospital, a nomad from Kabul ("Kabooliwala") (Nedumudi) kidnaps the doctor Sethu's (M.G. Soman) son Unni, & disappears. 20 years later, Sethu & his family finds Unni, but he now lives as "Munna", part of a nomadic group of circus performers & is in love with Laila (Charmila), the owner of the circus. Munna is torn between the two families, & tries to reunite with Laila, with the help of two homeless litter-gatherers - Kannas (Innocent) & Kadalaas (Jagathi Sreekumar).

Syed Ahmed (Mohanlal), son of Lebba Sahib (Nedumudi) & mute Nabisa (Sukumari) is a revolutionary whose forward thinking brings the ire of religious Islamic leaders. They frame Syed in a bombing conspiracy which kills hundreds, after which Syed is sentenced to death. Nabisa loses her sanity & goes on an aimless search for her son. This brings her to a temple where she seeks refuge & food, but when the temple officials find out about her being a Muslim, they kick her out.

Meera (Meera Jasmine) falls in love & marries crippled Harikrishnan aka Hari (Vineeth), who used to be a dancer at Mohini Natya Mandir run by Mohini (Chithra Iyer). Hari, who harbored dreams of an independent dance project without influence from Mohini, gathers Mohini's artists, including lead dancer Vivek (Manoj K. Jayan) & sets to work. Meera, meanwhile, develops a fear of men because of her sexless marriage & Hari starts suspecting Meera of unfaithfulness, resulting in Meera leaving Hari.

Senthilnathan (Prabhu) and his wife, Ganga (Jyothika), move into a house once owned by evil King Vettaiyan, who had enslaved the beautiful Chandramukhi and then murdered her in a jealous rage. When bizarre events unfold, Ganga suddenly believes that she is Chandramukhi. Saravanan (Rajnikanth), a psychiatrist, is brought in to help Ganga's rapidly deteriorating mental state, but it takes more than medicine to free Ganga of Chandramukhi's spirit. (Netflix)

Solomon Mathai (Mohanlal), a farmer who owns vineyards in Bangalore, comes for a small vacation to his home in Mysore, is when he sees his new neighbors - Paul Pailokkaran (Thilakan) & family. Solomon takes a fancy to Paul's daughter Sofia (Shari), & decides to save her after learning of her sufferings at the hands of Paul, who was actually her step-father. Paul, meanwhile had plans to marry Sofia off to his co-worker Vakkachan (Vishnuprakash), & also had an eye on Sofia himself.

Subhash aka Kochu Kurup (Vineeth) runs away from home to Bangalore, after being mistaken as the lover of Unnithan's (Janardanan) daughter Sarasu. There, Subhash falls in love with Padmaja (Kavya Madhavan) over telephone conversations even without seeing each other, after he saves her aunt Sudha (Sukumari) in an accident. When Subhash's friend Aniyankutty (Dileep) learns that Padmaja is the same girl "Pappi" he loves, he & his helper Appachan (Jagathi) tries to foil Subhash's & Padmaja's love.

Businessman Parameswaran (Mohanlal) who leads a double life as gangster Usthad, unknown to his kid sister Padmaja aka Papa (Divya Unni), tries to wind down his illegal activities & settle down in Kerala. However, his old rival Yusuf Shah gets wind of him being there & teams up with Papa's husband Nandan's (Vineeth) brother-in-law Mohan Thampi (N.F. Varghese) & tries to tear Parameswaran's world apart. Yusuf gets Papa & Nandan framed & arrested & flees to Dubai, with Parameswaran on his tail.

Kochuvava (Thilakan) had grown up with revenge in his heart towards the Mele Koloth family, who had murdered his father, Kochuraman (V.K. Sriraman), for having an affair with their heiress, Manorama. Now a millionaire, Kochuvava buys the Mele Koloth ancestral home, with the idea of moonshining there & demolishing it afterwards. This pits him against his son Mohan (Vineeth), who was in love with Latha (Anju), the youngest surviving successor of the Mele Koloth family, & against Kochuvava's deeds.

Years later, Mahadevan (Mukesh), Govindankutty (Siddique) & Appukkuttan (Jagadish), now settled in different places with their respective families, return to Harihar Nagar to attend Thomaskutty's (Asokan) wedding. Having 10 days to themselves without their wives & kids, they decide to relive their youth, with their new object of affection being their old flame Maya's namesake (Lakshmi Rai). However, their old enemy John Honai's son Freddy Honai (Sudipto Balav), has a score to settle with them.

To wean his daughter Indira (Bhavana) off her love for his maid's son Chandu (Jayasurya), Thampuran (Janardanan) makes Chandu write fake love letters to an imaginary girl, Vasumathi. However, a Vasumathi (Navya Nair) did exist in dire straits & when she receives the letters, she elopes to meet Chandu. Indira, learning the truth, also shows up at Chandu's doorstep, & now Chandu is torn between the two. Chandu, with the help of his pals, also weaves plans to eradicate Vasumathi's familial woes.

Friends Anupama (Samvrutha Sunil) & Rahel (Sherin), working as nurses at the Mission Hospital, rents Krishnavilasam Palace, a desolated mansion in a remote place. However, as soon as they move in, bizarre things start happening at the house & they start to have seemingly real nightmares. Scared, they decide to leave the palace, but decide to consult Dr. Arun (Vineeth), their boss before that. That's when they get their biggest shock yet.

Thacholi Varghese (Mohanlal), a Kalarippayattu expert, does not believe in using his skills for violent means, restraining himself even from seeking revenge against Mathiloor Rajan Panicker, the person responsible for his father's death. However, Varghese is dragged into a conflict when he is forced to defend his disciple Shyam (Vineeth) against a false murder accusation. In the process, he is pitted against Rajan Panicker in a sword fight duel, the outcome of which will decide Shyam's fate.

In Saudi Arabia, a Muslim Malayali, Akbar (Dilip), is sentenced to death for killing his Brahmin friend, Raghu Rama Iyer (Vineeth), while back home in Kerala, Akbar's wife Rasiya (Meera Jasmine) & Raghu's wife Ganga (Kavya Madhavan) are devastated by the news. When Akbar's & Raghu's common friend John Kuruvila (Biju Menon) tells Rasiya that the only way Akbar's life can be spared is if Ganga forgives Akbar, Rasiya & her father Abdu (Mammukoya) goes in search of Ganga, to beg for Akbar's life.

Alby (Jayaram) had dedicated his life for the care of his mentally challenged sister Alice (Sandhya), including caring for Alice's daughter Chippa & sacrificing his own family life. When Alice takes a fancy to street magician Victor Joseph (Vineeth), Alby sees Victor as a threat & tries to get him out of the way. However, when he discovers how deep their relationship was, Alby tries to unite them, knowing only Victor can completely cure Alice.

Vijay Krishnan (Vineeth) comes to Germany to visit his best friend Mahesh Menon (Kunchako Boban) & wife Veena (Preeti Jhangiani), after his lover Neena (Praveena) dies of cancer. There, mistaking Veena's friendliness towards him, Vijay develops an attraction towards her, which soon develops into an obsession.

Police Commissioner Babu Mohan IPS (Mukesh) & CI Appukkuttan (Sreenivasan) tries to stop Ramesh (Vineeth), an obsessed fan with suicidal tendencies, who was stalking pop star Merlin Fernandes (Shobana). In his bid to unlock Ramesh's mind, Babu Mohan delves into Ramesh's troubled childhood to find answers.

Hari (Vineeth) travels to Varanasi after his M.Phil. to do research in North Indian folk arts, where circumstances force him to shelter a girl Amritha (Kavya Madhavan) from evil gangster Kishanchand (Suresh Krishna). Kishanchand catches up with them, brutally assaults Hari & takes Amritha away. Hari returns to Kerala, but has to spurn his childhood cousin/lover Devu (Navya Nair) as he had slept with Amritha. A devastated Devu commits suicide & Hari returns to Varanasi & seeks solace in drugs.

SP Sreekanth (Mukesh) admits his niece Parvathi (Saranya Mohan) into the Mount Academy Public School, where he had an ongoing investigation on the deaths of its 3 girl students the previous year - Gowri (Shilpa Bala), Elena (Krishna Vijay) & Kalyani (Drishya). Parvathi ends up in the room previously occupied by Gowri & Gowri possesses Parvathi & tries to use her to bring the culprits behind her death to justice. Meanwhile, Sreekanth's probes reveal a sex racket connected with the school.

Dr. P. K. Haridas (Mohanlal), in repentance for inadvertently causing the death of freshman medical student Unnikrishnan (Vineeth) during a hazing routine while in college, takes up the care & protection of Unnikrishnan's impoverished Brahmin family. In the process, Haridas alienates his relatives & his cousin/girlfriend Bhanu (Geetha).

A modern day Robin Hood who takes from the rich to provide education for the poor.

In the pre-independence Brahmin community in rural Kerala, Unni Maya (Mohini), a 17 year old is married off to a 64 year old man, who dies soon after, leaving her to lead a life of confinement & ostracism. She gets a ray of hope in the form of Madhavan (Vineeth), a Kathakali artiste, who woos her, but later refuses to accept her out of fear for being banished from the community himself, after she becomes pregnant from their relationship. A trial involving the community elders gets underway.

Unni Kesavan (Saiju Kurup), a Brahmin youth frustrated with not being able to obtain a job because of his caste, turns rebellious & takes to drugs, bad company & hooliganism. Indira (Mamtha Mohandas), Unni's childhood friend, returns from Australia after a long gap, & seeing Unni's state, sets out to reform him. Unni turns over a new leaf & procures a job, but also falls hard for Indira, not knowing that she was a terminally ill patient & counting her days.

Rajalakshmi (Suhasini), an unwilling young lady & the daughter of a late popular politician, is drawn into politics after she is asked to run for office as an MLA by her family & the ruling party. She wins & soon after, a ton of responsibilities land on her shoulders. Seeing the plight of her constituents at the hands of the local crime boss Krishnamoorthy, who had the cops & the politicians on his payroll, Rajalakshmi starts a crusade to bring him to justice.

Lakshmi (Vidya) & Parvathi (Bhama) are 2 Brahmin girls who are best pals & people often mistake them to be twins. Parvathi falls in love with their teacher Devanandan (Vineeth), but unaware of this, Lakshmi's parents fix her marriage to Devanandan & Parvathi's marriage to Lakshmi's brother Vidyadharan (Arun V. Narayan). Parvathi later learns that she was pregnant & ashamed of this, Parvathi's father Narayana Iyer (Kalasala Babu) commits suicide. Parvathi is ostracized & she runs away from home.

Venu (Mohanlal), a poor young man struggling to support his family, is asked by rich businessman K.M.K. Menon (Thilakan) to marry his terminally ill daughter Sarojam (Urvashi), in return for financial security. Venu reluctantly agrees & has a good life with Sarojam till she passes away due to her illness after a few years. Their daughter Ammukutty grows up & is diagnosed with the same illness, causing for Venu to look for a similar groom for her to keep her happy till the end of her days.

Bavutti (Mamootty), an orphan who works as the caretaker & driver of a rich businessman Sethu (Shankar Ramakrishnan), tries to keep Sethu's family together when Sethu's wife Vanaja (Kavya Madhavan) gets a vistor from her past - her ex-boyfriend Satheesh (Vineeth) whom she thought to be dead but who now threatens to reveal their past to Sethu, unless Vanaja pays him a large sum of money.

RAW agent Sreedhar Prasad (Suresh Gopi) & deputy Murthy (Vijayaraghavan) come to the remote barren area between the Kerala-Karnataka border to investigate a bus explosion which killed 30 innocent college students. Prasad's investigations lead to a sinister spy racket which was leaking state secrets about Indian rocket/missile technology to enemy countries, lead by business magnate Shankar Dev Rana.

Archeologist K.V. Prasad (Vineeth) comes to the forests of Wayanad for an excavation project, where he meets his old girlfriend from college, Bhanu (Bhavana), now the wife of a rich planter & hunter Gopinatha Menon (Indrajith). Shortly after Prasad's arrival, a man-eating tiger goes on the prowl in the forest, claiming several victims. Gopinath decides to hunt down the tiger, while stuck in an unhappy marriage, Bhanu reminisces about their past with Prasad.

Seethalakshmi (Revathy), a college lecturer, is forced to face her bitter past from 20 years ago, when she was gang-raped by 4 young men & had to subsequently spend the next 7 years in a mental asylum, when a young man, Joseph K. Joseph (Shehin), appears out of the blue with the claim that Seethalakshmi's offspring from that rape is alive & was seeking acknowledgement. This causes the life of Seethalakshmi, who was shying away from men & marriage, to go into a tailspin.

Unni (Jayaram), a masterful chenda (a drum) player & a married man who had no interest in his own wife Kalyani (Lakshmi Gopalaswamy), is drawn to dancer Nalini (Kadambari). They have a short, but torrid affair, but they are pulled apart by Nalini's brother (Siddique), who marries Nalini off elsewhere. Unni turns into an alcoholic with deteriorating physical & mental health, whilst Nalini's new husband (Vineeth) turns out to be someone who thinks & acts like a woman.

Nandagopalan (Mohanlal), an alcoholic due to his tormented past, but a talented teacher at the Kerala Kalamanidram school of performing arts, takes a liking to his student Malavika (Monisha) & casts her as the lead for his magnum opus dance piece 'Seetharamayanam'. Somashekaran (Vineeth), another student at the school who loved Malavika, misunderstands Nandagopalan's & Malavika's relationship, gets jealous & plots to sabotage the dance performance.

Balan K. Nair (Dulquer Salman), a budding journalist, meets Sheela (Nithya Menon) whom he falls in love with, & enlists his gamer friend Ummar (Sekhar Menon) to help woo her. However, Sheela, wary of love, spurns his amorous advances & instead tries to keep him just as a friend. Convinced that she needs stability in life instead of love & passion, she accepts the marriage proposal of rich businessman Rahul (Rahul Madhav) instead.

Alby (Jayasurya) & Meera (Honey Rose) were a poor interfaith couple with a cancer-stricken son Jerry, who they were struggling to keep alive. A surgery was going to cost 13 lakhs, & based on a classified they put in the paper for donations, an elderly man (Shanawas) offers Alby the money, in return for killing a person (Vineeth). Desperate, Alby commits the crime, but also had to abduct the victim's son Rasul (Gourav Menon) who was a witness to the crime, & who also happened to be Jerry's pal.

Melina (Malavika Wales), a French citizen of Indian heritage, comes to Kerala to find the whereabouts of her Malayali father, Unnikrishnan (Vineeth). Years ago, Unnikrishnan had had a romantic affair with her mother Romi Michel (Irina Jacobi), a French lady who had come to the Kalamandalam dance school in Cheruthuruthy, Kerala to learn Kathakali.

Govardhan, a doctor by profession, is wrongly accused of bombing a train and is jailed by the British in Cellular Jail, also known as Kala Pani, in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He witnesses the sufferings of hundreds of Indian prisoners there. (imdb)
