State Commissioner Walton is uncertain about making Rainbow's End the new county seat after the Drago brothers, Matt and Slip, hold up his tage and beat up Sheriff Sam Oldring. Jimmy knocks out Slip Drago when he becomes unruly in the restaurant run by Judy Joyce, who refuses to feed Jimmy because she thinks he is the Melody Kid.

A western sheriff chases a gang trying to rob a rancher's gold.

While robbing the stage with Jeff Johnson, outlaws Jordan and Wilkins kill the stage guard and leave Jeff unconscious on the trail, to be picked up by pursuing U.S. Marshals Tom Yeager and "Hungry" Rogers. Posing as an outlaw, Tom is put in the same cell with Jeff, and, with Hungry's help, stages a jailbreak and takes Jeff with him on the latter's promise to lead him to an outlaw gang head by the supposedly-dead Bill Moore.
