The Rules of Attraction (2002) - Rated 21 Jan 2013

I'd say the college-partying and drugs background plays a minor role in this movie. Here, the flat yet engaging personalities of self-destructive characters is where the fun lies. Rules of Attraction's story might seem corny, but its development and direction are brilliant, inventive, and -- surprisingly -- surprising. Twisted values and lack of depth working beautifully.

Heathers (1989) - Rated 20 Jan 2013

I was actually surprised by Heathers. I was expecting something way more Clueless or Mean Girls -- its following decades girl clique fellow movies. But Heathers is rather a dark comedy, and in some ways very John Waters-ish. Don't be fooled by the high school setup here. We're dealing with psychos and some dead bodies. There's some (questionable) 80's moral code that wouldn't've been there in today's movies, adding to the whole creepy awkwardness of the film. Overall, it's fun. Winona is fantast

So corny I wanna puke. Haley Joel's portrayal of a gay man is as awkward and unnatural as the dialogues and the unbelievably predictable plot. Full of coming-of-age clichés, Sassy Pants falls short of being the next Little Miss Sunshine.
