This is a beautiful movie, with top notch performances by the luminescent Wendy Hiller and never better Trevor Howard as a meant for each other couple, with no way of fulfilling that promise. Beautifully shot and written, the movie rises above any possible met cute movie of the day. For lovers of classic film and three hankie romance.
