Whalefall (2026) - Rated 25 Oct 2026
Surprisingly poignant! From the trailers I was just expecting a straight survival story, but what we get here is something that has much deeper interconnectedness in the facets of the story. I didn't expect that, and I appreciate having something more to chew on than just a survival story. It has a Moby dick quality to it; it gets very metaphorical and delves into the characters psyche. A bit hard to follow what's happening in the whale sometimes though, which is maybe kinda fair?

Digger (2026) - Rated 11 Oct 2026
Fun watch. We laughed quite a lot at the absurdities, and I thought it was quite clever having the extra layer of the theatrical satire that lets the makers say even more on the subject. Would watch again. If I survive long enough. And might I add, it was gorgeously made. Lots of effort and creativity in the telling of this tale.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) - Rated 24 Aug 2026
A fun experience in 4dx. But the movie itself was a little too contrived at times, and if it weren't for the memory-wiped friends plot, it would feel a bit weak. Some scenes had lame dialogue that I found grating. Good ending though, overall.

Well that was weird. And quirky. And random. Nice music though

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die (2025) - Rated 14 Aug 2026
That was bananas. Thoughtful and entertaining SciFi, some of it plays like a black mirror-esque anthology, but it comes together. This is the kind of original sci-fi we don't get enough of these days

My Hero Academia (2016) - Rated 25 Jul 2026
There are some low points, and there is a lot of filler in the form of flashbacks to what we just saw last episode, but it's darn fun overall, and somehow nothing makes me as emotional as people pushing their limits for something that matters, even when they fail, when they can't see a way forward they try anyway.
