"This isn't quite the disaster it's made out to be- the visual style is remarkable and it deals with some interesting themes. The problem is it's very overplotted, with all sorts of tricky details and unnecessary bits of "shared universe" connections getting in the way of said themes and making the whole thing a bit of a slog to get through. Granted, I have only seen the theatrical version, which was heavily trimmed."
