I laughed every time someone said “cat jail.” Very into the way this unflappably runs on “kid logic” (ex: one plot point involves the corpse of a telekinetic fish being brought to life via exposure to the fumes of a factory producing “living spray”) without being cheeky or winky about it. Funny, rapid-fire pacing, but also quite sweet. I liked it!

Kinda “French arthouse cinema #247” (especially by the time we get to the B-52’s dance number), but compelling. Helps that it has no less than three extensive uncomfortable dinner sequences (each shot in superb unshowy oners) and has one of my favorite movie premises (people being miserable on vacation).
