Bio: Air pirate and film critic.

Generally I rate films/shows/shorts as if I was grading a paper. Nothing's ever gotten 100, and most settle in the B- to C+ range, which I generally consider decent.

I've rated a handful of 0's, though.

80 64% How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019) - Feb 02, 2019
"There are times when an author constructs a theme for stories and leads you to that theme... and maybe it's the fact that it was made by a movie studio, maybe some stuff gets lost in translation. But (without spoiling) I will say some elements of the decisions in the end... do not make sense as clearly as they would if just a few elements were different. A decent conclusion but parts of the theme ring hollow. That said, animation is great."
82 75% Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) - Dec 18, 2018
"There are a lot of reviews on the film that seemed dissatisfied that this film didn't tell the story from the angle that they'd have liked it to- and after having read a bunch of those I realize, having seen the film, that's a silly criticism. I learned a lot about Freddie Mercury's life, about Queen, and it dealt with the important aspects of his life and identity without falling into the trap of just doting over one aspect alone. Decently acted, great music naturally. Liked it."
77 49% When the Wind Blows (1986) - Dec 17, 2018
"While it makes a great case about the horrors of war and radiation poisoning, my word, this couple is painfully naive and unconcerned. The psychology doesn't feel believable and that ruins some of the effect."
74 40% Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018) - Nov 21, 2018
"When you have the world of video games, a way to mix in Disney characters, and the internet itself, there's so much material to work with. After 15 minutes it stops being about video games (save one made for this), most of the Disney stuff is shown in the princess trailer, and it's an abstract of the net that advertises more than amuses. Worse, the relationship of Vanellope and Ralph deals with a problem of insecurity and clinginess with a resolution that is more bitter than sweet. Disappointed."
68 29% Kill Bill: Volume 2 (2004) - Nov 05, 2018
"Tarantino can never pick a tone and stick with it, and the changes are jarring. Once again, the need to be badass and have revenge is at the forefront, no matter what love-letter of older films he's writing. I do not like his films."
67 27% The Call (2013) - Nov 05, 2018
"Third act ruins it when the kidnapper and dispatcher, who were pretty smart, suddenly lose tons of IQ points. (SPOILERS COMING) Kidnapper sees the call's gone on over an hour, doesn't change locations? Dispatcher goes to investigate, brings a flashlight? No weapon? And the flashlight serves to announce she's there- with no weapon? C'mon."
81 70% The Conners (2018) - Nov 05, 2018
83 80% Dave Chappelle's Block Party (2005) - Oct 04, 2018
