"the movie the late 30s line cook tells you is so funny and so true. but you watch it and its not funny at all but more importantly not relateable because kitchen culture has (at least somewhat) moved beyond glorifying toxic work culture. and youre glad its not, and that the dinosaurs are slowly dying off. side note, i hate looking at ryan reynolds, and just feel bad for the kid from freeks and geeks. "i was hoping nic would be on freakout mode for this, but instead this is one of his boring performances where he shows no interest in being there. even worse, the fights/kills are boring and uncreative, so they fucked up the two things that a dumb b movie premise like this needed to get right."
78 76% The Midnight Gospel (2020) - Feb 14, 2021
"the form (fictional narrative as a vehicle for a real podcast) is cool because the actual content of the conversations and the fictional story can sub in for eachother as the "good part" depending on how you feel about the episodes content. i tuned in and out of these two parts a lot and it was pretty enjoyable overall. then the last episode hits, and it takes a turn for something really bitter sweet and touching that the chill stoner vibes didnt prepare you for. worth it for that alone."

"If a movie is very slow and has little action but it has a long dancing scene its immediately good."
66 56% Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020) - Feb 11, 2021
"far more fun than suicide squad, tho it makes the same mistake of being way too frontloaded with backstory monologues. SS was a dumb movie, and so was this, but this was dumb in the enjoyable way. also loved m.e winstead as the badass assassin who ends up just being shy and awkward."
