This movie is the true reason for Arnold Schwarzenegger's fame. He plays the role of the Terminator to perfection and Robert Patrick's distinct haunting presence is brilliant. The visuals are, even now, quite impressive. The dialog and story are both excellent. Indeed, this is one of the best action films you'll ever see and arguably James Cameron's best film.

1991..the year Cameron made the best SciFi-Action movie of all time. With a monster budget of 94. Million $ ( that was a record in 1991 ) he created a movie that stands for a whole generation. Dark, brutal and dystopian. A movie with no hope and no happy end.130 thrilling minutes full of action you've never seen before. Terminator is an inherent part of the 90's. Judgement day will come, it's just a matter of time

The most awesomely entertaining piece of anti-capitalist entertainment ever made, in which an outlaw biker goes up against the military-industrial complex with the help of a mental hospital inmate and her Public Enemy-t-shirt-wearing, bank-robbing son to destroy a corporation while being pursued by the most fearsome villain of all: a white cop. The leftist politics of Terminator 2 have only made themselves ever clearer and, sadly, more relevant in the decades since its release.

I've never liked the criticism that James Cameron is a filmmaker more interested in technology as opposed to human drama. Sure, this picture is remarkably forward thinking in its application of CGI, photography, and practical effects. But it is also an incredible coming-of-age story on how John Connor becomes who he is and one of the best action movie parts for an actress ever. And the philosophical theme of "No fate but what we make" is up there with the Matrix. A classic in sci-fi.

Amazing action movie. Arnie is solid, the direction is impeccable, and the enormous budget is all on the screen. I felt physically exhausted after it was over. Minus five points for the insufferable Edward Furlong.

One of the best sequels ever made. Between this and Aliens, Cameron has a knack for cranking it to 11 in follow-ups. The special effects still look amazing this many years later, and the plot is a simple set-up for a two and a half hour high-speed chase. It's impressive how robotic Schwarzenegger and Patrick can make their expressions and intonations. It's seemingly emotionless work, but their movement is so subtly unnatural. This is absolutely epic cinema, and easily Arnold's best film.

Emotionally manipulative holocaust of playground, Robert Patrick is awesome, shit blows up, Robert Patrick continues being awesome, more shit blows up, Arnold has no idea what tears are despite complex understanding of human anatomy, Edward Furlong switches between emoting incredulity and hysteria, time paradox, more shit than ever blows up, Linda Hamilton is stupidly spared, Robert Patrick enters death throes, robots impart valuable lesson about being human, end's ambiguity ruined by sequels.

For what it is (an action flick), it's the best of it's kind. This is THE action movie, and is one of the few instances where the sequel improved upon the previous film. The only other movie that could fight for the title with this one is possibly Die Hard. But that's a different conversation for a different day.

doctor7, this is not the true reason for Arnold's fame, he was already an established movie star way before this and also Mr. Universe multiple times. In reality it is an instant classic and one of the few sequels that is better than the original. Arguably the best action movie ever. Robert Patrick is possibly the most perfectly cast villain I've seen, so perfect.

The greatest Arnold movie and one of the best sci-fi action movies ever made; a supremely epic and utterly action-packed rollercoaster. Robert Patrick and his oft-stabbing hands make for a terrifying villain. It has a sleek style distinctly different than the urban grit of the first film, but does it with so much panache that the tonal shift is all good. The T-1000 effects still look excellent twenty years later.

More action packed than the first, Terminator 2 is a more balanced thriller than the first. It's less of a horror film, and more of a sci-fi film, and it greatly strengthens the story and the time travel aspect. T2 also introduced the T-1000 who will forever be one of the most menacing movie villains. Really good!

This just seemed to be missing something that the original had. The atmosphere didn't quite feel right, and the best parts were the action scenes which seemed to see a giant lull in the middle, and the finale seemed a bit 'cheesy', I guess because it's fairly similar to the original but a bit more 'teary.' I also think that Arnie made a better 'evil' Terminator.

The special effects hold up well even today (2009), some of the characters are surprisingly interesting, and it seems as if Cameron put a little more thought into the plot, filling some of the holes from the first movie along the way. There are still a couple of things with the time traveling part of the story that don't make a whole lot of sense, but that's just a minor flaw in an otherwise really fun movie.

While the original Terminator relies more on horror, this movie relies more on action. And boy does it have a lot of it. This could easily be considered the greatest action movie of all time. But it's not all about action. If it were all action, it would be pretty forgettable. The action is intense because we care about the characters in the movie. Both the characters and the story are the strongest points of the film. If you haven't seen it, see it. It's a mandatory film.

I know so many people look at this as the greatest thing since sliced bread. While I agree it's a great action movie, it's not my favorite like most. It's weird to see how different this is from the first one, especially if you read into the production of this, and just how massive the budget and movie in general was for it's time. They absolutely nailed it too. We get Linda and Arnold back and they're just as good as before. Great villain, great affects. Great all around movie.

Iconic motorcycle-shotgun-flipping Hollywood action, and more than any other movie makes me nostalgic for the days of the video rental store. The liquid metal Boss Godfrey character works so well you forget it's a twist that he's the bad guy. John Connor isn't taken seriously enough given his importance in the plot, but I'm not convinced the actor is the problem. He's being hunted by a cyborg and they give him Bart Simpson lines! Hasta la vista, young Furlong *flips hair, rides off on dirt bike*

When a robot played by Scwartzenegger is the most charismatic & likable character in a film there's cause for alarm. Aside him is a douchy kid played by a douchy kid who can't act and an insane woman whose self-assuredness is annoying as hell. It's a testament then to everything beyond the characters and campy dialog how fantastic it still is. Great direction & effects, amazing soundtrack. The high point of Arnold's career.

easy to forget amid the goofy jokes and surrogate paternal bonding that when this gets dark it's dark as fuck, from the nuclear skin-flaying nightmare to the home invasion. it also remains one of the great action epics, the ALIENS to the first's ALIEN, full of vintage analog set pieces and horrifying CGI (FYC: when patrick melts through the bars in the psych ward and his gun gets caught for a second), all the while complicating its precursor's naked fear of technology and mortality.

One of the best films of all time and one of the best sequels of all time. Cameron's return to the Terminator saga comes off not only necessary, but emerges as a storytelling and visual masterpiece. Rather than settle for an action-ride, James Cameron reaches far with an unsettling horror tale of survival and a young boy seeing his only father figure in the eyes of a machine. Boasting great pacing, an excellent cast, and pioneering visual effects, "T2" is a rare filmmaking achievement.

Growing up, T2 was the film that sparked my interest into the magic of filmmaking and I have no problem whatsoever calling this the best action movie ever made. Great follow-up to the classic original with some spectacular action and surprising dramatic depth. An awesome ride worth revisiting every year.

Perhaps the most entertaining and re-watchable action movie ever made. I watched it on an almost weekly basis as a kid and owned the action figures. This is the role Arnold was meant to play. T-1000 is one of the most terrifying villains in film history and the special effects remain impressive over twenty years later. Music, image, the technical detail... There's really not much else to say. It improves on the original and has tons of memorable lines with a wicked smart script.

Bigger, more ambitious, but also more family friendly than the first instalment. 'Terminator 2' may not be entirely as bad-ass as 'Aliens', but it is still a must-see blockbuster of the 90s, complete with groundbreaking CGI, action galore and Arnold's rather touching line: "I know now why you actors act, but it is something I can never do."

It's the rock version of a punk predecessor, as nicely supported by arnold's respective wardrobe. Cameron added fun and mass appeal to the formula, but by going for a broader audience, he had to make concessions that somewhat hurt the source material. not the least of which was the absolutely annoying edward furlong. However, the general craft and action setpieces are out of this world, and as blockbusters go, near perfect and infinitely rewatchable.

Blending action, sci-fi, humour, and unadulterated thrills into one impeccable package, "Terminator 2" is, and always will be, at least to me, the perfect action movie, an unrelenting bombast of amazing set pieces, exceptional narrative turns, and fantastic performances, that never fails to deliver one hell of an explosive knockout punch of sheer entertainment, from beginning to end. Riding the fine line between blockbuster entertainment and potential schlock has never been this much fun.

Riddled with unanswered questions and gaping plot holes. I lost track of how many times I asked myself "why didn't he just...?", and they don't even bother trying to explain how the T-1000 works. And man, Edward Furlong just sucks. However, if you want some well-crafted action scenes, you could certainly do much worse. Cameron's lust for stylish violence and high-tech weaponry is kind of disturbing, and frankly, the guy sounds like a real dick. But he sure blows stuff up real good.

One aspect of this film that really stuck out at me was Sarah Connor's complete physical and mental transformation - you can tell just how emotionally broken she is just looking in her eyes. The special effects still hold up incredibly well (even moreso than in Terminator) and certain scenes (such as Sarah's nightmare of the inevitable apocalypse) have a huge emotional impact. I do feel the need to point out a paradox - how could the T-100 participate in the destruction of his digital ancestor?

A much better movie than either one surrounding it. The technology fifteen years ago would be dated by most standards, but Cameron knew what he could get away with, and it works beautifully. Take careful notice of the scene where Sarah Connor is tending to the Terminator - instead of a reflection in the mirror, Linda Hamilton's twin sister makes an appearance instead.

Sheer perfection. This is Arnold and Cameron at the peak of their games. A young Edward Furlong probably could have used some help, but ultimately he doesn't hurt an otherwise fantastic action movie. My favorite thing about this film is that the effects used for the T-1000 (done in 1991!) look better than lots of CG does today.

It's safe to say this is one of the best action movies ever made. It's bigger, faster, more hyperbolic than its predecessor. No doubt an impressive technical feat, but I fall into the minority who prefer the first film. I don't like the decision to infuse Schwarzenegger's Terminator with humanity, and Edward Furlong is among the most obnoxious child actors. The whole film has this tongue-in-cheek attitude that deprives it of the original's stronger aesthetic and atmosphere.

Certainly in the conversation for the greatest action/thriller films of all time, T2 is the very rare sequel that actually surpasses the original. But this is more than simply a thriller with its dark and frightening images of the coming apocalypse that the principals are willing to fight tooth and nail and die for in an attempt to prevent. And of course Schwarzenegger's casting as Termi is nothing short of brilliant. If you only watch one suspense/thriller film this year, choose T2.

Cameron wasn't content with just making a fun movie about Arnie shooting things so he made a deeply anti-fascist parable where the villains are corporations, the military and murderous White cops. While I miss the apocalyptic bleakness and brooding atmosphere of the original, this is the superior film in almost every way. The acting better, the script deeper and more complex and the action scenes more magnificent. The vfx still look great 30 years later.

I saw this opening night on the July 4th with my brother and a friend. It was the first midnight showing of a movie that I had ever been too. I love the steel blue color palette throughout the movie. One of the great action flicks. Two points off only because of Edward Furlong.

The film has some weaker moments than the original: it is less taut, Furlong isn't old enough to play bad-ass without coming off as whiny, the science and internal logic is less rigorous, and the lines can be cheesier. However, it makes up for it with some of the best action scenes in any film, and with Arnold reprising what rightfully should be a once-in-a-lifetime role, alongside Linda Hamilton's absolutely stunning performance.

This (possibly alongside Die Hard) has set the benchmark on what any modern day action movie should hope to achieve. Alongside the impressive explosions, chases, suspense and effects (which were limited by the technology of the time and thus didn't lead to a CGI wank fest) there are also characters that we meet (and ones that have grown since Terminator) who we can react to emotionally. We can cheer them on, empathise with their plight or hurt with their defeat. This is brilliant entertainment!

Terminator 2: Judgment Day never quite becomes the complete film that the first Terminator was, but is still a good action film that will keep you entertained. The best part are the special effects, while the worst comes in the form of a couple of character decisions and the fact that our villain, while menacing, doesn't show up often enough to gives us thrills and chills. But there are explosions and gunfights that are well-made, so you'll likely not be disappointed if you watch it.

It's a great action movie-the set pieces are thrilling, the slippery villain excellent, the SFX hold up well, and stoic Terminator and badass Sarah make a great one-two punch of heroes (Furlong's turn is mediocre)-but its mix of searing dystopian sci-fi and raw human emotion (see Sarah's fantastic narrations: "Of all the would-be fathers who came and went over the years...this machine was the only one who measured up. In an insane world, it was the sanest choice") make it a great movie, period.

One of the two defining movies of the 90's action genre. Special effects that are still timely. And an actual story with emotional tugs, twists, and layers; you feel like someone actually went and wrote based on characters, not just plot and FX service.
DIE HARD works better due to Willis and a simpler, catchy plotline, but TERMINATOR 2 is the brassy older cousin with panache.

The graphical effects were nearly futuristic at the time, the whole Terminator plot is interesting (as is any plot concerning a worldwide Apocalypse - especially at the hands of our own creations) and you just have to love Arnold Schwarzenegger's epic performance. It is chock-full of action, weaved into a story that doesn't bore a second. Will the world escape it's dire fate?

All action films take note: T2 is what you HOPE to achieve. Just brilliant. Robert Patrick gives us one of the best and most frightening villains to date, even another terminator takes 137min to kill him. An absolute classic.

A feast of action and sci-fi power. However, underneath it all a more serious layer is found - the layer about humanity, time and destiny. The visual effects get old and become laughable, but the story only gets more relevant every day.

The best of the series and one of the best action movies ever. It was better in almost every way from the first and it has arguably the most iconic ending in an action movie ever. The only real complaint I can have is with the acting. It felt like Linda Hamilton was trying way to hard as a bad ass chick and Edward Furlong...ugh. In the great pantheon of crappy child actors he isn't the worst, but he's pretty bad. All action fans should see the first two of this series as they are true classics.

Super slick and a massive amount of fun. Arnie looks buff as fuck and Robert Patrick is inspired. Cameron does a lot with his bigger budget, but somehow I've always felt that T2 has lacked the charm of the first film. None the less, depite getting the urge to punch Edward Furlong in the balls every time he is on screen, I love this. It sets a supremely high standard for sci-fi/action that not many films since have been able to live up to and it just has so many great scenes.

Like any other kid who grew up in the 90's this and Jurassic Park are my cinematic throwbacks to childhood - I must have seen this at least a dozen times over the years, a rewatch record. Has some of the most iconic action scenes ever but the nostalgia has worn off a bit. Furlong being annoying as fuck is the main sticking point, also Cameron failing to be persuaded to have early NIN on the soundtrack instead it's G&R/"Bad to the Bone". T-1000 impaling that guard's head is still the shit though.

Best action movie ever? Almost. Essentially a remake of the original that focuses more on action than the horror, and Cameron turns the action up to 11 for T2. As usual Cameron creates enjoyable characters that we can cheer/boo as needed. However T2, especially with the extended versions, can feel a little bloated, particularly in the middle when the T1000 dissapears from the plot for awhile while the T800 learns to smile. It's still an essential movie for anyone who likes action films though.

Top badass moment? "Come with me if you want to live." Always trust a Terminator not to beat around the bush. That's 100% badass and good advice at any time, especially when some liquid metal nutter is after you. Trust me, I know.... No cats, decapitations or chainsaws. There's a fair bit of shattering, melting and general ripping apart going on though.

'Terminator 2' is perhaps the greatest action movie ever made and is certainly my favorite. James Cameron absolutely outdoes himself in what is perhaps his finest achievement...along with Terminator and Aliens. Everything we loved about the original is put into this amazing, breathtaking beautiful sequel in even grander style and T2 is clearly an unforgettable masterpiece. To not give this movie a 100 after every brilliant thing about the movie including amazing SFX for 1991 is a crime.

T2: Judgment Day is one of, if not the best action film of all time. It visually set new standards and it's without doubt James Cameron's finest work. It still holds up convincingly well and it will stand the test of time for decades to come. Arnold Schwarzenegger gives the best and most memorable performance of his career and Linda Hamilton & Robert Patrick are great also. T2 is a timeless spectacle, it's story telling perfection and it's arguably the most re-watchable action film ever made.

This feels like a Terminator-self-insert-fanfic written by an eight year old. "And then the cool boy was protected by the cool Terminator and they became friends and the cool boy taught the Terminator catchfrases and the Terminator did everything he said and was like the best dad ever and they broke his mom out and she was not mad and he was really destined for greatness like she said." I find it kinda heartbreaking, but not for the same reason that everyone else does.

generally entertaining and far better than [aliens]. good and evil are programmable artifacts, and its (hypocritical) anti-violence stance is a relief after that film. still, the text gets progressively stupider, from including very advanced robots that mysteriously have no concept of emotion, to silly nonsense about making your own destiny. the kid never ceases to be annoying, and the idea he could use his good old homegrown pin swiping tricks to enter a top secret building is fucking retarded.

The rare sequel that genuinely expands on the universe of the original, Terminator 2 is blockbuster film making of the highest order; a colossal and ambitious sci-fi action hybrid that stood Godzilla like above its contemporaries and established a new standard for the genre. Cameron proved a point with T2 that he unfortunately forgot in the ensuring years: that special effects are designed to enhance a well written story, not act as a substitute. It's a superbly crafted thrill ride.

Still stands the test of time as being an all-around superior film and possibly Schwarzenegger's career best. From my perspective, what we have here is a nearly perfect film.
