"Beautiful, creative, fun. You don't often (ever) find a film where the two main characters are both female (and aren't competing for a male), or one that explores the complexities of a relationship between a teenage girl and her mother. One of my faves from Pixar."

"Decent High School distopian allegory with an engaging cast (except the male lead - too old and "good looking" compared to the rest, and not a very charismatic actor.) A bit long, with too much crammed into the last half hour. Overall entertaining."

"Beautiful to look at, with a few clever jokes and catchy songs (although too snarky and for my tastes). Overall too self-aware, with a plot that somehow managed to be predictable and confusing all at once. Nothing revolutionary here (Still a strong and extremely stereotypical romantic plot, what's everyone making a big fuss about?)"
