Where the Wild Things Are
Where the Wild Things Are (2009) - Rated 20 Dec 2009
Liked it a lot, but was kind of confused.I got the feeling as if the film didn't know what it wants to be - a story for kids or something more. There were some great things about it, that really got to me(first 10 minutes of the film for example, marvellous!), but sometimes it felt...well, silly. But after all, a child's mind is kind of silly - I remembered the stories I used to make up in my mind as a kid.

Red (2008) - Rated 18 May 2014
The simplicity of the story and its subtle execution pulled me in. Among good things are the right amount of suspense it manages to keep through its runtime and Brian Cox's performance; a bit worse is kind of overlooked side characters, that we hardly get the time to get to know. But OK, after all it is about the old man and his dog.

To me, it's the most "honest" stuff on TV. I like how he doesn't limit himself inside certain genre and expectations that critics and viewers might have from it, but, as it seems, just films whatever he thinks would work. I like the messy camerawork and how child actors are handled. Anyway, I never found it boring and that's quite something for the number of episodes out

Brazil (1985) - Rated 16 May 2010
Possibly 'City of Lost Children meets Orwell's 1984'. With some comedic inputs, obviously. A pessimistic look into the future and also a great and very much overreacted view (and critique) on today's society. I loved some of the political posters that showed up in the back.

It's really good, this one. Wikipedia wants me to think it's a crime film but I remember seeing a brilliant mix of family drama and black comedy. It ranges from drama and suspense we saw in 'The Sopranos' to brutal comedy we enjoyed in 'Man Bites Dog'. I also absolutely adored the soundtrack

Well, if the plot was just a bit more ridiculous, it could pass as a parody of every other thriller. But it somehow manages to get away with being a decent crime thriller and an enjoyable watch. I recommend it

You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger
You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger (2010) - Rated 07 Dec 2010
The film touches quite a number of relationships and tries mainly to present the disappointment they might bring. Funny how the cast also manages to disappoint! Also, why does Woody not do what he's good at(say writing), and lets other people direct his stuff, his direction is really getting more disappointing by every score he makes. But despite all the things that disappointed me, I almost enjoyed it. He mocks some things quite successfully if nothing else

Sucker Punch
Sucker Punch (2011) - Rated 28 Mar 2011
Pros: the mayor, satisfying music and costumes, some pretty amazing visuals | Cons: everything else || Zack probably just wanted an excuse, be it good or bad, to put all these shots on screen. Too bad his ideas are not at all related and this 'excuse' therefore seems to have the attention span of a 5 year old. Booom dragons...boom zombies..and Nazis.... Seeing how this was going nowhere,I enjoyed the already mentioned visuals, as anyone should-that's what this is about.

Dikkenek
Dikkenek (2006) - Rated 02 Feb 2011
It really presents us some great characters, but what it lacks most of the time is some 'momentum', it doesn't feel relaxed enough - it actually looks like an overweight man trying to do gymnastics - a bit forced and completely unnecessary . If they managed to polish the idea of random people being connected through random events(which has naturally already been done before, and quite well also), this could be really good.

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988) - Rated 06 May 2010
I find it more or less ridiculous, but yet I adore all the symbolism, great ideas, couple of lines and things it manages to mock! And I just love Baron Munchausen as a character - so ironical, so both behind and ahead of his time. Had it been a bit shorter, I'd give it a higher score.
