We like to see a screwball comedy that actually embraces a respect and love for the working class. Where the best way out for the couple isn’t some random act of luck that allows them to escape their “misfortunes” it’s actually to embrace what makes them like the majority of the folks on this earth. Makes it all the more beautiful. A universal struggle between security and love in the working class of the world. Wilder pens a snarky acidic witty script that is actually funny unlike a decent amount of “comedies” of the era. Colbert is everything you’d want from a screwball actress of the era.
