Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu

A working class coming of age story that actually feels of the working class. Not one that describes what one imagines it to be. It’s not overtly hopeful or cynical it’s just an expression of life. It’s easy to reduce this to “nothing happening” but I don’t even think that’s correct. It’s long so people tend to view it that way but there’s a clear thru line thru every interaction and character development. It’s not as insightful as the best of the genre about the spirit of humanity but it’s not without a strong emotional core. Subdued nostalgia a world of hidden politics. The world at war around Sweden while life just exists for them. Beautifully expressive camera work helps create that nostalgia.
