The Fox
Not the best adaptation of Lawrence for whatever that’s worth but still interesting and uses the medium of film to attempt to capture some of the feelings Lawrence can within you. A sort of always on your toes questioning of the world around you but it’s draped in lushness and unspoken sexuality becoming the dominant language. This film is able to create a cross between British kitchen sink dramas and classical Hollywood melodrama without it being obnoxiously both at once. Way ahead of its time when it’s dealing with the concepts of sexuality if you really dig deep into it with the ending being the only real overt acknowledgment of it. The sadness of never fully getting to know one’s self because of tragedy inflicted by outside sources even if you yourself were even questioning your happiness before the tragedy. It’s all so complicated. Worth some sort of re-discovery in this era of cinephilia it would be a hit.
