I came in after two really strong seasons, so the comparison is unavoidable. Still, I enjoyed this third season. It didn’t hook me as much as Seasons 1 or 2, but it keeps that bingeable quality that makes you hit “next episode” without thinking twice.

This time the spotlight is on Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, and the change is noticeable. The romance isn’t as instantly explosive; it’s more of a slow burn built on looks, insecurities, and feelings that have been piling up for a long time. Nicola Coughlan is especially good, and Luke Newton works better than I expected once the story finally decides to commit.

What still works is the world itself: balls, ridiculous rules, sharp lines, reputations ruined over nothing, and that sense of watching a social marketplace dressed up as elegance. That said, there are plenty of side plots and, at times, the main thread gets a bit scattered.

The music remains a highlight. Those orchestral covers of modern songs are basically part of the show’s DNA now, and they still fit perfectly here: they place you in the period while reminding you this is classic and pop at the same time.

Visually, no complaints. Costumes, makeup, hair and sets stay at a very high level, and even when the story works less for you, the series is always a pleasure to look at. It’s the kind of production that simply looks great.

Overall, Season 3 isn’t the best for me, but it’s a solid and very enjoyable continuation. It has less surprise and maybe less spark than before, but if you like the Bridgerton universe, you’ll still find what you came for.
