Carry-On

Jaume Collet-Serra once again showcases his talent for crafting a dynamic and entertaining thriller, with his signature visual style and skill at keeping the audience hooked. This time, Taron Egerton carries the weight of the story with a solid performance that balances vulnerability and determination, while Jason Bateman shines as a charismatic yet ruthless villain.

The film borrows elements from genre classics, wrapping them in a holiday setting that, while not groundbreaking, provides an engaging backdrop reminiscent of iconic titles from the past. The action sequences are well-choreographed and executed, particularly a standout fight scene inside a speeding car that leaves a lasting impression.

Although the script doesn't always match the quality of the direction and some plot twists may feel implausible, the pacing and energy of the leads make these issues secondary. It's impossible not to notice the influence of films like Die Hard 2, adding a nostalgic touch that will resonate with genre enthusiasts.

In summary, this is a work that, without reinventing the wheel, succeeds as an entertaining action thriller, packed with adrenaline and memorable moments, thanks to the talent of its director and the excellent performances of its main cast.
