The thing about suspense films is that rewatching them often strips away much of the tension. I also forgot how dumb these characters were and just how many things had to go wrong for them to end up here in the first place. Don't get me wrong, this is a fun movie on a first watch, but I didn't like it nearly as much the second time around because of all the asinine decisions.

I do still like quite a bit of this, though. The underwater cinematography is great, and there are a lot of terrifying scenes that I think would trigger thalassophobia in a lot of people. There's also a lot of gnarly wounds, and I can always appreciate a halfway decent shark movie. It's far from one of the best shark movies, but it's also far from the worst. I'd comfortably put it somewhere in the middle of the pack.
