A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night
Oh wow, I actually loved this by the end. This is a really solid and unique vampire flick!
At first, I thought I was going to hate because I found it to be slow and it didn't really have anything super interesting. I also hated the side plot with the dad who was a druggie as well a disliking how few kills are in this.
But the way this movie ties everything together and leads to something amazing can't be under-stated! This movie has a really unique cool vibe! The music and the choice of black and white really add to the atmosphere. It feel contemplative in a way that most movies would shy away from.
Besides the side-plot which eventually comes full circle in a fascinating way, I have one more minor complaint. After having this on my watch list forever, I was really hoping that this would be a black, red, and white film but instead it's just black and white. What a wasted opportunity to not add a splash of red in this movie. It would have fir perfectly!
Also, if I had a nickel for every skateboarding vampire in films, I would have two nickels. That's not a lot, but it's surprising it happened twice! I think skateboards and vampires go really well together, but I can't place why!
