Looks like films by Yorgos Lanthimos are hit or miss and unfortunately, I dislike this one the most. Around the start of the third act, I was really starting to dig this but then this film jumped the shark is such a spectacular way that it went from a hovering six to this score.

The biggest issue with this film is how it bashes itself over the heads of everyone with everything. The music insists upon itself, the paranoia is superficial, and the ending is shallow. The only good thing in this is the acting and Emma Stone killed it in this.

Oh, I guess I should also say that I was hoping that this was going to be a weird film from the start. I don't know, nothing about this just lived up to the hype.

Watch The Favourite or Dogtooth instead.

The line from this film, "99.9% of what's called activism is really personal exhibitionism and brand maintenance in disguise," did make me chuckle though!
Mini Review: Yorgos Lanthimos films are hit or miss, and sadly this is my least favorite. By the third act I was starting to enjoy it, but then it jumped the shark so spectacularly that my score dropped fast. The film hammers its themes too hard—the music insists on itself, the paranoia feels shallow, and the ending lacks depth. The only saving grace is the acting, with Emma Stone delivering an outstanding performance that elevates an otherwise frustrating experience.
