Everyone is absolutely wrong about this film. This is smartly written and tightly paced at 108 minutes. The characters are all well formed and there was way more suspense in this one. I think a lot of people have an issue with the the ending and with Kai, but you can quite tell that they are biased. I honestly can't find a single thing wrong but maybe I am biased because I know a lot about Japan. I know most people will forget about this but please give this another chance. If it's your first time watching this, be open-minded.

Yeah, this is something I will have to disagree with the majority of Letterboxd. This movie is amazing and way better then the original Cube! This has no annoying characters, more realistic characters, better acting, better pacing, and is all around a better story. I am not sure why people are so forgiving for the first movie but not this but maybe people were just upset during the later stages of the pandemic.

Where do I even begin with such claims? Well, I feel that no one can really argue about the characters but as for the pacing, this movie decides to not waste time and even if this is longer, it just breezes by! They figure out the number trick and go through much more quickly, the same amount of people die but it's more impactful and people actually mourn them. There's no dumbasses sucking on buttons which actually dehydrates you quicker! All of this wrapped in a larger cube where it's more believable people would get lost once they figure out how to navigate it. Also, there's more interesting traps as well that explain why it's still even MORE difficult to traverse. Do you see what I am doing? All of this makes this movie infinitely more interesting.

It's honestly very hard for me to find what's wrong with this film that isn't personal preference, or misunderstanding things in this film. I had this as an 8/10 from the first time watching, but I have to make it higher. It's got to be one of my hottest takes on Letterboxd in the more positive direction, but I will go to bat and defend this film with a passion!

Mini Review: Everyone is wrong about this film. It's smarter, better paced, and more suspenseful than the original Cube, with stronger acting, believable characters, and a more compelling story. The number trick is solved faster, deaths have emotional weight, and the larger cube and varied traps make navigation feel more realistic. I don't understand why people forgive the original's flaws while dismissing this one. Give it a chance with an open mind.
