Honestly a lot better then some reviews led me to believe. Sure, there's some really bad CGI and some odd acting direction, but the horror and theming of the Cthulhu Mythos is intact. For a budget of 5 million in 2001, this was really good!

This is the second time I have watched this and it might as well be one of my favorite "bad" movies ever! I love the Call of Cthulhu mythos and all the spooky stuff that comes with it. This film captures basically everything about that but also makes it charming, dumb, and funny. The movie was definitely not trying to be funny, but it's just so damn entertaining! Stuart Gordon also made Re-Animator with Brian Yuzna so it's kind of hard to be mad at them trying something different. I honestly wish this was even more weird and it's a shame that it was only stuck with a $5 million dollar budget and then had tons of issues on set. Filing with water is just a pain in the ass sometimes... Anyways, if you are interested, I would recommend giving it a try!
