This review is dedicated to my Letterboxd friend, Val!

This movie was not on my radar at all until I saw this as one of my friends most favorite films. I went into this without know anything about it besides Johnny Depp was in it!

Honestly, I was blown away from this right from the start. The atmosphere to this film was set right away and there's this unique charm I can't quite place. I think the black and white film used in this works wonders. The plot, pacing and characters are all sublime. I particularly adore Blake and Nobody! There were also a lot of surprises in this one and I never knew quite what I was going to get. Also, there is a lot of iconic imagery in this one. Without spoiling anything, my favorite scene involves a bunch of paper roses going all over the place. It was truly an iconic scene.

I will be thinking about this film for a long time and will certainly have to rewatch this!

Val, if you are reading this, leave a comment! I always wonder what you think of my reviews. Thank you for being my Letterboxd friend and leading me to this film! :)
Mini Review: This movie wasn’t on my radar until I saw it was a favorite of a friend. I went in blind, only knowing Johnny Depp was in it—and I was blown away. The atmosphere hits immediately, with a strange, magnetic charm. The black and white visuals are stunning. The plot, pacing, and characters are sublime. I especially loved Blake and Nobody. So many surprises! My favorite scene (no spoilers) involves paper roses flying everywhere—absolutely unforgettable.
