Hard Boiled
This is my second John Woo movie besides Mission Impossible and he certainly has a style...
Haha, I am joking, I actually loved this! My only real issues with this are how long this is and the romantic sub-plot. I also didn't like the slo-mo shots during the none action scenes, but that's just John Woo!
To be honest, I was surprised that this was not a comedy movie because that poster led me to beleive this was some sort of buddy cop movie protecting a baby! That would be a pretty crazy movie, but this was pretty awesome too!
Chow Yun-Fat is always amazing and is so fun to watch. He brought an amazing and human performance to this. Tony Leung Chiu-wai is also amazing and I loved the progression of hhis character in this. Shoutout to the main henchmen who seemingly can't die that has a strict moral code. All of the others were great but those were the standouts to me!
What else is there to say?! This has some of the greatest action I have ever seen and I was super engaged even with the long runtime. There's a lot of silly moments but it doesn't detract from the suspense. This is a very solid film and I could see this being a 9/10 or 10/10 on a rewatch!

Mini Review: My second John Woo film after Mission: Impossible 2, and I loved it. The romance drags a bit, and some slow-motion outside the action felt excessive, but Woo’s style won me over. Chow Yun-Fat is endlessly charismatic, while Tony Leung Chiu-wai has a great character arc. The nearly unstoppable henchman was also a standout. Most importantly, the action is incredible, some of the best I’ve seen, balancing suspense, chaos, and silliness perfectly. A future 9/10 or 10/10 for me. On rewatch, easily...
