Iron Lung
Hello everybody, my name is Dr. Necrow, and today I am reviewing Iron Lung!
Young Dr. Necrow watched Markiplier EVERY day, and I still can't believe it's been THIRTEEN years since I first saw his videos. Humble brag: I was one of his first 2,000 subscribers back when he was playing Amnesia. I always knew he had “it,” but seeing him grow over the years and become THIS big still boggles my mind. He always had an affinity for video work, and after In Space with Markiplier, I really wanted to see what he could do with an actual movie.
Anyway, I went to the theater with my Markiplier T-shirt that I got years ago and smuggled in Tiny Box Tim, and finally watched the movie with friends. There were still a lot of people in the theater even though I went to an independent one. I am so glad I went to see this in theaters because some scenes really need to be seen on the big screen.
So, my actual review will be on the shorter side, as I will be watching this again and doing a spoiler review, but I liked this. I actually liked it a lot! The one major problem with this film is that it's over 2 hours long when it could have just been 100 minutes. That's right, I think 20 minutes could have been cut, and the film would have been better for it. There's a lot of repeated information, and there is so much padding in this.
Luckily, even with that large negative, that's pretty much my only gripe with the film. Everything else in this is just so cool. Mark gave a great performance, and the atmosphere is stellar! I am surprised at just how much he got out of the under-$3-million budget for this film. The massive amounts of blood are a given and are really cool, but there’s also some really solid prosthetic work.
One of the coolest things about this is noticing how much imagery was taken from the video game SOMA instead of Iron Lung itself. I have a feeling Mark is setting his sights on more movies, and I would love to see him try his hand at SOMA. I will be watching this again as soon as it comes to streaming!
Thank you guys so much for reading, and as always, I will see you in the next review. Buh-bye!!!! :D

Mini Review: My review will be short since I’ll do a spoiler review later, but I really liked this! The main issue is the runtime; over 2 hours when 100 minutes would suffice, with some repeated info and padding. Otherwise, it’s awesome! Mark’s performance is great, the atmosphere stellar, and the under $3M budget shows in amazing blood and prosthetics. I loved the Soma-inspired imagery and can’t wait to see Mark tackle more movies.
