Lacombe Lucien

This was unexpectedly great even though I had a lot of reservations on this at the start. It just didn't seem interesting and there was an overwhelming amount of animal cruelty. The movie quickly set up that our main character is not only a bit evil but also psychopathic.
Quite honestly, I loved this as a period piece and a character study. It's very reserved in how it shows things so that when violence props up, it's extremely shocking. I had no idea where this film was going and was gripped by it the entire time.
This also felt very short and breezed by. II love all of the characters in this and how real everything felt. Very solid movie!
