My Dinner with Andre
1/29/2023: I heard that this movie was a good example of two people talking, especially if I liked Tarantino's conversations, they were wrong... so wrong!
Andre is that type of person who talks and talks with no substance and with pseudo-science while thinking they are the most interesting person in the room.
This movie itself was so boring that Wallace Shawn was the only thing to bring me out of it on occasions and that was a real shame!
There were some interesting topics but with no real push back from Wallace Shawn, it got even more dull.
By the end, I had no choice but to fiddle on my phone wondering if the reviews had something interesting to say, I wonder if they will...

I finally got around to watching this a second time. In my first review, I lamented that this movie was a was not good example of two people talking, and was no where near Tarantino's conversations like I was led to beleive.
I also promised to read reviews and delve deep into why people liked this, as well as watch video essays and even god deeper then that and watch the commentary tracks and pretty much everything spoken about this movie.
My issues are the same... Andre is that type of person who talks and talks with no substance and with pseudo-science while thinking they are the most interesting person in the room. He is incredibly dull and disinteresting and I would much rather listen Wallace Shawn and his inner monologue.
In fact, Wallace Shawn is the only reason I am not giving this a half star.
It's a shame he didn't give more push back, because he was the only one to have anything interesting to say...
Even forcing myself to not fiddle on my phone or go do something else was torture. I have gone through the ringer again, and I hate this movie with a passion. Out of the 2,583 total films I’ve watched, I’ve seen over 1,000 more since I last watched this. In that time, I’ve watched dozens if not hundreds of films with more interesting conversations than this one.
