Oh wow, this movie really surprised me. To be quite honest, this is one of those movies that always has scenes for film class and this always looked goofy to me. But here's the thing... this might actually be the best spy movie I have ever seen! Now, I have only seen a few of the James Bond movies, and Skyfall is my favorite, but this was just so fun!
I have never seen a Cary Grant film before, but he captured both of the roles he needed to play perfectly, or should I say, one role on top of another role! Eva Marie Saint was also fantastic and showed a great deal of range. The pacing was great even though this was over two hours, the film was funny, and this is all made in 1959?!?! How did it take me this long to watch this?!
I think I am going to have to watch this again and give a better deep dive into this. The only reason this is getting a 9/10 on a first watch is that I didn't like how this started and I feel there are a few contrivances to get the plot to work, but I'll save that for my next review just in case I missed something. Oh man though, I quite enjoyed this, I would be able to talk about this for a while. I can see why this is shown in film class, but why is it not required to view?

Mini Review: Oh wow, this movie surprised me. I always saw this as a goofy film class movie, but this might actually be the best spy movie I have seen! A 9/10 on first watch because of a slow start and some contrivances. I need to rewatch this and dive deeper. Why isn't this required viewing?
