Unfortunately, the second movie is not also directed by Takashi Miike, but Minako Daira is writing all three of them, so these movies should be cohesive and not as convoluted, right?! Well, it's actually a mix of both. It's crazy complicated as hell, but there's enough added to make the mystery still a bit of an entertaining mindfuck. This is not nearly as spooky as the first one, but it still has some good moments. The biggest issue is that the characters are not as interesting, and the whole movie is rather dull because of that. The dynamics are more forced and it was hard to be invested in them for the most part. The ending saves this movie from a lower score, though, and is so much more effective than how the first movie ended.

(Oh, random side note, but I saw the scene at the power plant when I was a kid. I guess I've just always been scared of these movies without knowing about it. It's also honestly the best scene in the movie.)
