Prince of Darkness

A slow burn of a slow burn, this movie was really not that engaging until the last half hour. I enjoyed the special effects and the characters were also pretty neat. The ending was really good but it actually suffers from the time it took to get there.

I figured I would watch the Apocalypse Trilogy that John Carpenter made. This is the second time I am watching this movie.
Unfortunately, my thoughts of this film have soured a little bit. A good 2/3 of this film is just to slow for me and although the other stuff is really really good, there's some goofy elements to a lot of this. On one hand, it plays it's hand too much, and on the other, the movie decides to not go far enough. I guess it all comes down to just not being that interesting to me. I like the characters and it's not actually paced bad, but everything that happens in this could have been streamlined more.
Maybe I am being a bit too hard on this, but it's really only a couple scenes and the last 10 minutes of this that I truly love. Maybe I will gain more appreciation on a third watch but I think I would need to watch it with someone else to really reflect on my final thoughts.
