Short Term 12
I liked all of the acting and the top 5 top billed people (Brie Larson, John Gallagher Jr. Kaitlyn Dever, Rami Malek, and LaKeith Stanfield) in this were absolutely amazing. It's a very sweet story with a lot of interesting moments.
So why am I rating this low? Honestly, as good as the performances are, all of this just seems artificial to me... I know there's a lot of real elements and I am sure there are plenty of stories like this in real life, but this just seemed like a fairy tale. I could not suspend my disbelief on everything that occurred in this. It has heart, but I don't feel the soul. I don't know how else to put it, but I don't want to write a longer review for this to be honest.
Honestly, I only really watched this because it was a short movie on Tubi and is in the Letterboxd Top 500. IT's not for me. Oh, and also Kaitlyn Dever totally deserved to be Ellie in The Last of Us TV show!
