It's Louis Malle month and we are doing an anthology film. I will be starting with his short that stars Alain Delon.

The first short I honestly amazing! It's one of those life time revenge/grudge movies with a very interesting plot of how it's done. Alain Delon is especially great acting against himself in a dual role. There's not too much to say about it since it was so short but I love it and would give it a 9/10.

So, what's up with the low short for the other two movies. Well... the other two movies by Roger Vadim and Federico Fellini are weird and BORING. As well as being extremely lacking in any sort of technical competency. I know Federico Fellini is well regarded on Letterboxd, but I can't stand his directing style. Both of these shorts were appalling!

Apparently this is my first Jane Fonda movie and I am not impressed. Her character in this was awful and a tragically bad choice on how to start this movie. I am sure I will find something with her that I like her in, but this was not a a good introduction. Maybe Roger Vadim just didn't know how to direct her. A young Terence Stamp was fun to see, but he could not carry just how bad the Federico Fellini short was..

So yeah, the two shorts that Louis Malle didn't do will be getting a 2/10 each. I did not enjoy my time with them at all. IT's sad because this is some of my favorite work from Louis Malle!

Mini Review: The first short is honestly amazing! A lifetime revenge/grudge story with a clever premise. Alain Delon is great in a dual role. Short but a 9/10. The other two (Vadim, Fellini) are boring, weird, and technically weak. I can’t stand Fellini’s style here. Jane Fonda’s first film for me is a bad intro; weak character. Terence Stamp is fun but can’t save it. Malle’s segments: 2/10 each. It’s a shame because Louis Malle’s parts are the only ones that work. I wish the anthology were more consistent!
