The Lovers on the Bridge
Oh my… TWO back-to-back 10/10 movies tonight? I am on a roll! Of course, this one is a masterpiece for completely different reasons.
First, Juliette Binoche is amazing in everything she’s in and is easily one of my favorite actresses. She appears in all of the Three Colors Trilogy, but the movie Three Colors: Blue is the one she's the main character in, and it’s my favorite because of her!
Anyways, this film is an intensely emotional experience with a wonderful aesthetic that left me wondering how on earth they made it. Apparently, it went way over budget, and it’s insane what they managed to pull off. There are so many iconic artistic frames that I’m surprised more people haven’t talked about. My favorite scene is the one with all the fireworks!
I’ve said plenty of times that I don’t usually like romantic movies, so I should explain why I love this one. While most romances chase perfection, this film refuses to be cute or sanitized. Instead, it dives into the raw depths of why people are drawn to one another. The relationship here is definitely unhealthy at first, but it works because both characters need each other in ways only they can understand. It's almost painful to watch because it's hard to see why they need each other at first. I dare not spoil how good this plays on that type of romance.
I’ll certainly have to watch this again. I feel like I missed so much, and I hope to do a long, detailed write-up someday to show just how much I love it. If you enjoy artistic films, please watch this. Anyways, I feel bad for the next movie tonight, it’s competing with two 10/10s!

Mini Review: Oh my… TWO back-to-back 10/10 movies tonight! I’m on a roll. This one is a masterpiece for different reasons. Juliette Binoche is stunning, she elevates Three Colors: Blue into my favorite of the trilogy. The film is an emotional powerhouse with breathtaking aesthetics, iconic frames, and a fireworks scene I’ll never forget. Unlike most romances, it avoids perfection, diving into raw, messy attraction. The relationship is unhealthy yet deeply human. I’ll rewatch soon, art lovers, don’t miss it!
