I really hated the first ten minutes of this as it's very trope filled to my modern tastes. The rest of this was very interesting though. From the cinematography to how dirty this felt. I like Leatherface but am unsure why he's the icon of this film, the old dude was way more scary in my opinion even though he refuses to kill. The ending is iconic but no one talks about the badass with that wrench throw! My complaints are of course the first ten minutes, but why would they do a car wash and not even at least MENTION the blood on the side of the van?! (I get it's my favorite psycho, but there are employees, if any of them wouldn't, the main characters should mention it.) RIP Franklin

This is the second time I’m watching this, and I still can’t really give it near a 10/10. It’s an effective horror movie, but there are a lot of issues I went into in my first review. (Beware spoilers!)

The biggest thing I noticed on this second watch is how long it takes for the movie to reach the stuff that made it iconic, and I’m much more interested in the other villains besides Leatherface. He’s a great villain, but I honestly don’t find him that scary from a screen-presence perspective. Sure, he’s terrifying to the characters, but most of them don’t even see or deal with him.

But as I said in my first review, I absolutely love how dirty and profane this movie looks. It honestly seems like something I shouldn’t be watching, as if I recovered some tapes from an old farm that I should turn over to the police or FBI. It gets a whole hell of a lot of respect from me for that. I still really enjoyed this and would recommend it to anyone!
Mini Review: I really hated the first ten minutes of this; it’s so trope-filled by my modern tastes. The rest was fascinating, though, from the cinematography to how genuinely dirty it feels. I like Leatherface, but I’m unsure why he’s the icon when the old dude was way scarier despite refusing to kill. The ending is iconic, but nobody talks about the badass wrench throw! Also, why have a car wash and not even mention the blood on the van?!
