The Tingler
This is another gimmick-type movie. The idea behind this one is brilliant, and I think it would have been crazy to watch it in a packed theater when it came out. It's all about how massive amounts of fear cause a bug to come out of your spine and feed on all your other emotions. The gimmick is that the theater seats were hooked up to deliver subtle electric shocks!
Now, a lot of this movie was quite silly, but I can only imagine how the shocks were implemented, and I think this is a very well-done meta-movie in that regard. In fact, I would probably say this might have been one of the scariest movies from before the 1960s. There's actually a pretty good sense of dread in how this movie plays with the tropes of the time and utilizes them to great effect. I don't want to spoil it, but there's a part in the movie that would have made me lose my shit if I were watching it in a theater. Of course, I watched this at home and just thought it was funny.
This is a pretty charming movie with a good gimmick that works even without the physical element. It's nothing groundbreaking by today's standards, but I had fun. Give this a watch if you want to have a shockingly good time!

Mini Review: This gimmick movie has a brilliant idea, and I can only imagine how wild it was to see in a theater! Fear causes a bug to emerge from your spine and feed on your other emotions, while theater seats delivered electric shocks. It's silly, but the gimmick makes this a clever meta-movie with a sense of dread. One scene would have made me lose my shit in a theater, though watching at home, I just laughed. It works without the shocks. Nothing groundbreaking today, but a charming, shockingly good time!
