En man som heter Ove
Meandering portrait of a Grumpy Old Crank lacks the conviction of GRAN TORINO (which it resembles in many ways), with Ove the character a little too willing to compromise his nature for the purposes of allowing for some sentimental and melodramatic plotting (especially the history with his wife, which would almost suggest the fates do not want them to stay together!) It’s agreeable and pleasant enough, but doesn’t do a great deal to stand out from many other similarly themed films, and Holm seems to want to drown some scenes with his soundtrack, lest the emotional beats aren’t landing with sufficient force!
